In 1786 the second (Catholic) parish was created in St. Francis, Kentucky. Maryland Catholics Scott County was formed in 1792, named after General Charles Scott, a Revolutionary War hero who led the Kentucky Militia at the disastrous Battle of the Wabash in 1791.

The Old Covered Bridge

The old covered bridge that crossed over Licking Creek in Pendleton County was considered unsafe for the school bus to cross; therefore, the bus would pull up close to the bridge to unload and the students walked across the bridge to the school. The Morgan School was still operating during the 1920s.
